Government House (now the House of Culture Museum), built in 1812, was once the residence of the Governor General, the Queen's representative in Belize.

The original wooden court house was destroyed by fire in 1918. A new reinforced concrete court house, patterned after the original, was built on the same site in 1926 to house the Supreme Court. The current building has filigreed iron stair and balcony rails between two arms of the structure, and a four-sided clock above the balcony.

St. John's Cathedral, an Anglican cathedral constructed in 1812, was the first church built in the colony of British Honduras.
