The White-tailed Sabrewing is a large hummingbird that breeds in northeastern Venezuela and Tobago. It was thought to have become extinct in Tobago after hurricane Flora in 1963, but the population has now largely recovered.

Trinidad & Tobago, an island situated 7 miles off the coast of Venezuela, was a British colony. Became an independent member of the British Commonwealth in 1962. Notes of the British Caribbean Territories were used between 1950-64.
